May 4, 1929 Feb. 12, 2011
Mother passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, peacefully at the age of 81, with her daughter, son-in-law and youngest granddaughter at her side. Marie was born in Lewiston on May 4, 1929, to George and Frances Mills. The family lived in Lewiston for part of Marie's younger years. They moved to Kamiah, where Marie grew up and graduated from high school in 1947; she also attended the University of Idaho for a short time.
Marie married her high-school sweetheart, Jim Osborne, April 17, 1946. They made their first home on the family farm on the Camas Prairie. Later they moved to Lewiston, where Marie graduated from Lewiston Business College in 1949. Shortly thereafter they had their first child, Ron, in 1949.
Taking a big step, they moved to Oregon, living in Woodburn, where daughter Karen was born in 1959. Marie worked for the Bank of Oregon for more than 25 years. Soon Marie and Jim became proud grandparents of Dallas and James, from Ron and his wife, Frankie.
In 1974, the couple moved back to Idaho, living in Kamiah. While there, Marie worked for Helt's Datsun Auto, then on to the city of Kamiah as the city clerk. While in Kamiah, their daughter gave them more grandchildren, Taiya, Torie and Chazzy Knight, who became a large focus of Marie and Jim's life.
In 2001, Marie and Jim moved back to Oregon. The summer of 2010, Marie moved back to Idaho, making her final home in Buhl, close to her daughter.
Marie is survived by her mother-in-law, Laura Rocheford; son Ron Osborne and wife Frankie; daughter Karen Osborne and husband Rick Prophet; grandsons Dallas Osborne and James Osborne; and granddaughters Taiya Johnson, Torie Knight and Chazzy Knight. Marie had five great-grandchildren, with another one on the way.
Marie was preceded in death by her mother and father, George and Frances Mills; husband James Osborne; and an infant son, Randy.
Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed.
At Marie's request, there will be no services. Her ashes will be put where the love of her life, Jimmy's, were placed.
People who wish to commemorate her passing are urged to donate to A Promise of Hope Hospice Care of Boise in her name.
