Marie Elizabeth (McPherson) Palmer, 90, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, in Lewiston.
Marie was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Kooskia to William and Almie (Davis) McPherson. She had three brothers, William Jr., Donald and Larry. She attended school in Kooskia and Clear Creek and graduated from Grangeville High School. She attended Boise Junior College and Valley Business College.
In 1947, Marie married Robert Palmer in Grangeville. They lived in Culdesac until 1970, when they moved to the Lewiston Orchards. Marie worked at various banks, insurance companies and the Idaho Transportation Department, Port of Entry until her retirement in 1989.
Marie belonged to the Rebekah Lodge in Culdesac. She enjoyed flower gardening, crafts and transporting friends to appointments and shopping. She was very fond of her family and was an important presence at all their functions.
In 2001, Robert passed away. Marie also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Billy and Don; brother-in-law Delbert Palmer; and sister-in-law Joanne Palmer. A stroke nine years ago took away Marie's independence and most of her ability to communicate.
Marie is survived by brother Larry McPherson; sisters-in-law Mary McPherson, Lorraine McPherson, Bonnie Denton and Helen Evans. Surviving nieces and nephews include Kathy Brown, Gene McPherson, Mike McPherson, Brian Palmer, Greg Palmer and Molly Stowers. She also left many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens. Instead of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
