Margaret Kaufman, 93, known to most as “Peggy,” passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, after a short illness. She passed at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, with her daughters by her side.
Peggy was born March 19, 1925, in Spokane, to William and Margaret Young. When she was 14, she moved with her family to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. Peggy graduated from Lewiston High School as a valedictorian. During World War II, she attended nurses’ training at Lewis-Clark Normal School.
She married Ferdinand “Bud” Kaufman in 1945. They had two children, Pamela and Cyd.
Peggy enjoyed her family, crocheting, socializing with her friends and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Fuchs and Cyd Kaufman; grandchildren Ty Andrews, Darcy Oliver, Travis Andrews, Matthew Hamilla and Barbara Hamilla; great-grandchildren Emily Oliver, Andrew Oliver and Dylan Andrews; and her brother, Robert Young.
She was a lovely lady who will be greatly missed.
