Leana S. Moore-Ammons
Leana S. Moore-Ammons

On Thursday, July 28, Leana's sleep deepened into a permanent rest, with her children Dawn and Travis at her side.

Born on May 7, 1952, in Pasco, she was the fourth child of Raymond C. and Agnes J. Wetmore (Currin). Four years later, Leana moved with her family to Clarkston, where her parents grew up and where both families had roots dating back to the early 1900s.

Leana went through school in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, graduating from high school in 1970. Both of her children were also born in Clarkston. After her children were grown, she went back to school, following her parents edict: education matters. She and her son both went to school at the same time and graduated together from Lewis-Clark State College. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work at LCSC and later, a master's degree from Eastern Washington University.

She was preceded in death by her mother (1993), her father (1962), and her oldest sister, Dorothy Rae (2015). She leaves with us her son, Travis Moore; and daughter Dawn Crocker; two granddaughters, Sierra Grace and Marcea Lianne; two sisters, Barbra and Karen; and six nieces and nephews, Janet, Jenifer, Raymond, Blaine, Bobby and Mary Kate.

We believe she has moved on and will help others in heaven as she did here on Earth. We know she is watching over and waiting for each of us as we make our journey back home.

A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hells Canyon Boat Club, 2550 Riverside Drive, Clarkston.
