Lawrence Morbeck passed away after a short battle with cancer on March 9, 2013. He was 79.
Lawrence was born in Uniontown to Joseph and Magdalene Morbeck. Lawrence attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Uniontown. After high school, Lawrence joined the U.S. Army, where he served in the Signal Corps for two years, spending 17 months of that time in Germany.
After several years working for local farmers, he worked for Rima Lumber in Pullman. In November of 1961 he married Louise Bartlett of Potlatch, and the couple moved to Pullman. In 1978 they moved to Moscow, where he was manager of Standard Lumber Company for 18 years. He worked as a carpenter until he had to retire because of health reasons. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow, and a member of the Moose and Elks.
He is survived by his wife at the family home; daughter Jana of Seattle, and sons Tony of Utah and Mike of Moscow; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; sisters Edna Schulthies of Colton, Sister Mary Angela of Portland, Rosemary and Angela of Spokane; and brothers Walter of Spokane and John of Lewiston. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, the Rev. Howard Morbeck.
The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow.
