Kenneth Fisher Adams, 93, of Kendrick, passed away Feb. 26, 2013, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston.
He was born March 9, 1919, to John William Adams and Emily Jane Law Adams in Elgin, Ore. He attended school in Elgin, graduating from Elgin High School.
Ken served as a U.S. Navy radioman third-class technician for 20 months in the Asiatic Pacific on the USS Adar.
Ken and Betty were married May 3, 1947, in Elgin, Ore. He had various lumber and carpentry jobs in Elgin; then, with help from family and friends in 1953, they built his gas station and later on the City Center Motel. In his spare time (ha!) he sold Arctic Cat snowmobiles and parts. He loved to hit the trails with family and friends and enjoy a cold winter's day. His easy-going attitude and smile made it a pleasure to be one of his customers or friends. Ken and Betty ran these businesses for 25 years. After a few years at Terry's Trailers, he retired. During retirement, you would find him in his woodshop making toll boards, Christmas and home decor, bird houses, rocking horses, etc. If you needed it he could build it. When not busy in his shop, he and Betty would hit the road with their motorhome and boat and travel all over the Northwest, searching for the best fishing and "biggest" huckleberries they could find. Ken spent his last years at the veterans home in Lewiston. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the great care and comfort they gave Ken during his time there. Ken was a great husband, father and friend, his love for family and great smile will be dearly missed.
Ken was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Kenna Jean Jordan and husband Mike of Lewiston; daughter Melynda E. Bean and husband Dennis of Prineville, Ore.; son Larry Adams of Culdesac; and son-in-law Scott Burgess of Spokane; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karlyn Sue Burgess; brothers George, Dick, Earnest and Arthur Adams; and sisters Laura Roulet, Lucy Shears, Mildred Lind and Ruth Puckett.
Cremation has already taken place. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. April 27 at the LDS Church in Elgin, with reception to follow at the community center.
