A graveside inurnment service for Kathryn E. (Katie) Barstow Karo will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mountain View Cemetery in Farmington, Wash., with Walt Miller officiating. Katie passed away early Friday morning, Sept. 23, 2011, at Memory Villas at Bishop Place in Pullman, where she has resided since July 2010.

She was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Moscow to Rex and Marguerite Warren Barstow. She attended schools in Moscow and graduated from Moscow High School in 1950. She later attended the University of Idaho for two years.

Katie was married and later divorced.

Katie lived in Tigard and Salem, Ore., for several years. She worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist for a metal fabrication company in Newberg, Ore., where she lived from 1972 to 1979.

Katie also was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant in Salem for nearly 10 years.

She moved to Spokane Valley in 2003 and later moved to the Brighton Court Assisted Living in Spokane before moving to Bishop Place in 2010. The family would like to thank the staff at both facilities for their exceptional care of Katie.

She was a member of the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary in Spokane and an avid square dancer. She also attended the Valley Open Bible Church in Spokane Valley.

Survivors include two brothers, Rex M. Barstow of Lewiston, and Robert A. Barstow of Tacoma; three nephews, Ben Barstow of Palouse, Larry Barstow of Federal Way, Wash., and Scott Barstow of Redmond, Wash.; and two nieces, LeeAnn Nilsson of Lewiston, and Linda Eaton of Fishers, Ind.

Memorials may be given to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or to the charity of donor's choice.
