Jane A. Clear, 65, of Clarkston, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024. She was born Feb. 27, 1957, to Garald and Odetta (Marvin) Clear, in Clarkston.
Jane graduated from Clarkston High School in 1977 and left home to attend college that same fall.
Jane graduated from Huntington College in 1981 with a degree in sociology and Christian education. While in college, she enjoyed working at the college library. She attended Good Shepherd United Brethern Church where she enjoyed working in the children’s program puppet ministry.
After graduating college, she worked at Bowen Center as a substance abuse counselor. It was there she met her husband Denny Bigelow. They married July 28, 1990, in Indiana. Jane later changed jobs to accept a counselor position at Chain O’Lakes Correctional Center.
Missing home, Jane and Denny moved to the Northwest settling at Jacques Spur near Culdesac. She was soon hired at the Aging and Long-term Care state offices in Clarkston where she continued to help people. Jane became the office manager, a position that she held until the effects of an MS diagnosis necessitated her retirement.
Jane enjoyed car rides through the Blue Mountains while living here, and visiting Lake Michigan when she lived in Indiana.
Jane is survived by her father Garald A. Clear, of Lewiston; and siblings: Steven (Gwen) Clear of Yakima, Byron Clear of Tacoma, Odetta Church (Chris Halliday) of Clarkston, and Michael (Mary Beth) Clear of Clarkston, with nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces.
Her husband Denny Bigelow preceded her in death on May 6, 2003; also her mother Odetta Clear; grandparents Delbert and Ruby Clear; grandparents Andrew and Lela Marvin; and mother-in-law Thelma Bigelow.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Merchant Funeral Home, 1000 Seventh St., Clarkston, with a gathering following for family and friends.
