Tuesday, May 14, 2024, marks the end of an extraordinary life that began 94 years ago.
Jack B. Beck was born on Oct. 29, 1929, to Eldridge P. and Hattie M. Beck. He grew up with his sister, June, on a farm outside of Moscow and graduated from Moscow High School in 1947. He married his high school sweetheart, Nita N. Frischknecht, on Nov. 5, 1949, and together they raised five children, Vicky, Terry, Dianne, Clifford and Linda. He also has 10 grandchildren, Shelly, Chris, Jenny, Colt, Sacorra, Amberlyn, Austin, Damon, Alana and Will, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Always a hard worker, he was employed by Dumas Seed Company as a warehouse foreman and then by the University of Idaho in the power plant, later transferring to refrigeration, where he retired. At the same time he farmed, all to support his family. He shared the things he loved the most: stock car racing, motorcycles, snowmobiles, hunting and fishing with those he loved the most. His was a life well-lived and a soul well-loved. He imparted many words of wisdom in his lifetime but these words will forever echo in his wake; “Life isn’t fair, but you can be.”
A graveside memorial will be held in his honor at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, at the Moscow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, Jack’s favorite charity.
