Geraldine (Jerry) Dugger passed away at home surrounded by family and loved ones Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at the age of 85.
Mom was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Clarkston, to Hazel and Walker Gruell.
She married Walter E. Dugger in April of 1947. They moved to Winchester, where they started their family. Dad worked for Boise Cascade and mom was a housewife. After 18 years in Winchester they were transferred to La Grande, Ore., where mom went to work at the Riverside Cafe as a waitress. Three years later the family was transferred to Emmett, Idaho. Mom continued to work as a waitress at the President Cafe until she retired in 1991.
Mom spent her retirement being extremely active with her grand- and great-grandchildren. There wasn't a bake sale or a youth auction that was ever in need, due to mom. Everyone in town knew where they could get the best carrot cake and cookies when there was a fundraiser. She took pride in her family and her home.
Mom is survived by her son, Walter Dugger Jr. of Lewiston; daughters, Jan Rekow of Emmett and Lynn Dugger of Craigmont; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was awaiting the birth of her first great-great-grandchild due in December. Mom was preceded in death by her spouse, Walter Sr., and grandson, Todd Dugger.
Thank you to the nurses and staff of Heart N' Home. We appreciate the care and love that was given to mom, as well as all that was done for us.
Graveside services for friends and family will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Emmett Cemetery.
