Frank passed away Nov. 28, 2013, at Life Care Center. Frank was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Walter and Ruth Chisholm. He moved to Lewiston around 1925, where he became a resident of the Hurlbut Mansion (children's home) for about a year before moving to Anatone to live with Herb and Mary McMillan, where he became an accomplished equestrian.
He enlisted with the U.S. Army in January 1941 and was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif., where he was placed in the calvary. He once rode a horse over the Golden Gate Bridge on maneuvers with his unit. During World War II, he served in Europe as a marksman and cannoneer with a howitzer division. He was in the first company of soldiers to be stationed an Adak, Aleutian Islands. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After the war, he was employed with Camas Prairie Railroad and then later by Potlatch Corporation, where he remained for 34 years until his retirement in 1981.
He and Wanda Latham were married Feb. 5, 1947, in Coeur d'Alene, and resided at Redbird along the Snake River until moving to the Lewiston Orchards, where they remained in the same home for more than 60 years. He was an avid gardener, always planting picture-perfect rows, and he also loved the adventure of going to the Blues to cut and split firewood, always taking his thermos of percolated coffee.
Frank is survived by Wanda, his wife of 66 years; daughter Teresa Trundle; sons Cleve (Stephanie) and Jeff, all of Lewiston, and Jim of Issaquah, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Adrian Kiesser, Lee Kiesser, Kally Reno, Brad Chisholm, Bonni Leonardson, Andrew Chisholm and Mark Chisholm; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Reno, Nick Reno, Bradley Leonardson, Derrick Leonardson, Chelsea Leonardson and Kristen Chisholm; and one great-great-granddaughter, Zoey Leonardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Andy and James; twin sister, Frances; and sisters Lois and Ada.
