(Edna) Marie Jackson, 98, of Athens, Ga., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. She was born on July 10, 1925, in Bethel, Ohio, to the late Jack and Lucille (McMurchy) Cason. Marie’s family moved west to Oklahoma, and then to Washington and Idaho when she was a young girl.

Marie grew up in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley on the Snake River with her brother Dan where she attended school and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1943. She was employed at Hanford, Wash., for the atomic energy plant, where she worked as a secretary. During World War II she worked at the naval shipyards in Bremerton, Wash. In 1947, she moved to Clarkston, where she worked for a finance company. Later she was employed by Omark, Inc. (now Blount, Inc.) as an inspector for 15 years before retiring.

Marie married Vernon Jackson at Lewiston on July 3, 1948. While working, raising two children, and supporting her husband’s many projects, she maintained a loving home. The family enjoyed boating, water skiing, and fishing on the Snake River.

Marie was an active Clarkston Presbyterian Church member, and a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Temple No. 55. She was an avid crafter whose crocheted scrubbers were sought after gifts for relatives and friends. She loved gardening, especially growing Irises. She walked daily with her beloved dog, Crystal, which contributed to her long full life.
