Earl Leroy Tweedy, 93, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, of age-
related causes at Clark House in Moscow.
Earl was born June 12, 1918, to Nellie Richardson and Francis Tweedy in North Vernon, Ind. He graduated from Kamiah High in 1938 and was at Lewis-Clark State College for two years. After that he was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in campaigns in North Africa and Italy.
After the war he moved to Lewiston and married Clara M. Schumaker Aug. 22, 1946, in Clarkston. He worked at Potlatch Sawmill from 1948 until his retirement.
He also loved to raise quality Hereford cattle. In 2009 he moved to Clark House in Moscow.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, a 4-H leader in the 1960s, and in the Good Sam RV Club.
Earl is survived by his son Wayne Tweedy of Harvard; brothers, Emerson Tweedy of Eugene, Ore., and Verl Tweedy of Lewiston; sisters, Ethel Jones of Vancouver, Wash., and Helen Yenney of Lewiston; as well as four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara M. Tweedy; son Stanley Tweedy; and five brothers and one sister.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Church, 1519 Ripon Ave. in Lewiston.
