On March 25, 2013, Earl (Arnie) Frederick Arnold was called home to be with the Lord and entered into eternal life.
Arnie was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Easton, Pa., to Mark and Katie Arnold. He was the middle child of three children.
Arnie married the love of his live, Grace (Gracie) Hester, on June 28, 1947. This marriage was blessed with two beautiful children, Lee and Susie. The couple resided in Bethlehem, Pa., from 1957 until 1995.
Arnie was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1940-1945 in North Africa and Italy during World War II. Arnie loved his country, and his children grew up hearing stories of his "escapades" during the war. As a result of Arnie's love of country, his son and three grandsons served or are serving as active duty military. Great job, Pop! They'll make you proud.
After coming home, Arnie worked for the Bethlehem Steel Co. in Bethlehem, Pa., from 1957 until retiring in 1981.
In 1995, Arnie and Gracie moved to Genesee to be closer to Susie and her son, Roger. In September 2007, they again moved, to Virginia, this time to be closer to Lee, Angie and Arnie's little buddy, Jack. In April 2009, they felt called back to the Lewiston area and settled in at Emeritus at Juniper Meadows. They were quickly welcomed and enjoyed living with their friends at Juniper Meadows. The level of personal caring and outpouring of love from the staff at Juniper to Arnie and Gracie will forever be appreciated.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and William; and his beloved Gracie.
Survivors include son Lee, wife Angie and sons Earl II and wife Morgan, Patrick and wife Stacy, and Jack; and daughter Susie, husband Doug and sons Roger and wife Laura, Teague and wife Carolyn, and Gavin. He is also survived by his five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Sabrina and Alysa Millhouse and Ava and Deacon Arnold.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Congregational-Presbyterian Church, 709 Sixth St., Lewiston, with a luncheon following. There will also be a graveside ceremony with honor guard at the Genesee City Cemetery following the luncheon.
