Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, heaven gained a 4-foot-9½-inch (she always made sure you knew about the ½ inch) angel with an attitude, Dorothy Kelly. She celebrated her 96th birthday on Dec. 28. A few short days later she left this Earth to be with the Lord.

Dorothy Hildegarde was born on Dec. 28, 1922, along with her twin sister, Bernadette “Bernie,” to John and Anna Seubert. She was raised on the family farm with her nine brothers and sisters near Cottonwood. Working hard and looking after others were principles instilled in her by her parents and siblings; and she continued to do just that for her entire life. Helping and serving others was something that brought Dorothy much joy. She often spoke of growing up on the family farm, where she delivered milk before and after school each day, in addition to the many other chores that come along with farm life.

After high school, Dorothy began her first job at the Camas Café and after that began working at the Crystal Bar. The Crystal Bar relocated and the name was changed to the Twins Crystal Bar. The Twins Bar burned down in the late ’70s and the Stockman’s Bar was purchased and renamed The Twins Bar — a place where much fun was had and many memories were made. Dorothy and Bernie retired in 1998. Dorothy loved the many friends she made in her 50-plus years of service and held those memories close to her heart.

Dorothy loved her children and grandchildren very much and was always willing to do what she could to help. She also enjoyed walking, working in her yard and baking. She was a wonderful cook and loved sweets. She would turn down food, but never a dessert.

After spending many years in Cottonwood, Dorothy and Bernie moved to Boise to be with Bernie’s daughter, Jackie, and husband Billy. Dorothy moved to Ashley Manor in Boise and Bernie joined her there in the summer of 2016. Dorothy and Bernie were, and always will be, inseparable. In fact, those who know the twins probably cannot remember a time where they saw one without the other, with their identical outfits, jewelry and hair, kind demeanors and sassy attitudes.

Dorothy is survived by her lifelong partner, twin sister and best friend, Bernie; three children, Wayne Kelly, Jim Kelly and Debbie (Roy) Schumacher; grandchildren Randi Schumacher (Travis Hogg), Cody Schumacher, Jordan Kelly, Brian Wassmuth and Jennifer Charlo; and her extended family of Billy Bair, Jesse (Eunjoo) Bair and Cody (Juanita) Bair.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Anna Seubert; sisters Ann Puthoff, Phyliss Crist and Julia Bosse; and brothers Matt Seubert, Eugene Seubert, Dominic Seubert, John L. Seubert, Bernard Seubert and her very special niece, Jackie Bair (Tipton).

Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood, and burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Accent Funeral Home and Crematory in Boise. Remembrances may be left on Dorothy’s webpage at www.AccentFuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation or your charity of choice.
