Our Dad is finally reunited with the love of his life Sandi after he took his last earthly breath on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024. Dad has missed Sandi so much the past 17 years. David passed away from complications of pneumonia.

David was born Sept. 21, 1934, to Archie and Alberta Weatherly. He grew up and lived in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley his entire life. David graduated from Clarkston High School in 1957 and Washington State College in 1959.

David served in the United State Air Force National Guard from 1957 to 1963, on active duty and as a reservist.

In 1957, David married Carolyn Southwick. The couple divorced in 1975. In October 1978, David married Sandi Halverson in Clarkston. They were happily married until her early passing in 2007 of brain cancer.

Before owning his own business, Twin City Locks, David worked at Lewiston Plumbing and Heating, Sweeney Supply, Craftwall of Idaho, owned the Lewiston Dairy Queen with his wife Sandi, Bi-Rite Lumber and Erb’s Hardware. Over the years, David also owned several rental properties in the L-C Valley and managed these properties before selling all of them. David retired in 2012.

Anyone that knew David knew he loved adventures whether it was a fishing trip, a hunting trip with fellow Weatherly men and friends or simply a boat trip to Hells Canyon. David also enjoyed extensive travel through the United States, Europe, South Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. He also loved several cruises.

David was known as a “character and a funny storyteller.” Since he lived in the L-C Valley for 89 years he has 89 years’ worth of friends, both older and younger. There will be an opportunity, during David’s service, for stories to be shared.

The family would love to hear about David outside of our many family stories.

Please join us to celebrate David at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Merchant Funeral Home, 1000 Seventh St., Clarkston.

In lieu of flowers, the family also asks to please consider donating to the veterans assistance non-profit program Tunnel to Towers, t2t.org.
