Charleen A. Mattoon, 85, of Clarkston, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born in 1938, in Caldwell, to Reva and Francis Willard Thompson. Charleen was a caring, loving and adventurous individual who touched the lives of many.

Charleen had a fulfilling career in nursing. She started as an X-ray technician and became a Registered Nurse. In her educational journey, Charleen graduated from Boise High School and later pursued higher education at Boise Jr. College, and Lewis-Clark State College. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to the field of nursing were evident and constant throughout her life. Her dedication and passion for helping others led her to become a nursing home administrator. Charleen’s commitment to her profession and the well-being of her patients were truly admirable.

Outside of work, Charleen enjoyed traveling internationally, camping, and spending quality time with her husband Jerry and her family. She valued creating lasting memories with her loved ones and cherished every moment spent together.

Charleen is survived by her husband, Jerry Mattoon, her sister Rojean, her children Tim Lori, John, Tamaran and Terry. As well as her stepchildren Jim, Chris, Carl, Rene, Sheri and Mike, Lilo — a cherished exchange student from Brazil who enriched her life, and numerous grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and strength.

Charleen will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. Her caring nature, adventurous spirit and unwavering love will forever be remembered. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

A ceremony to honor Charleen’s life and celebrate her accomplishments will be held at a later date.
