Cathy was born Feb. 18, 1948, to William and Natalie Lockhart in Ogden, Utah. Their family moved to Wallace, Idaho, where she grew up and graduated from Wallace High School. She then moved to Moscow to attend the University of Idaho and met and married James M. Loney. They had one daughter together, Krysten (Loney) Applonie, and divorced years later but remained friends. In 1970, Cathy started working at the University of Idaho, where she met many great friends and retired in 2003.

Cathy was in many clubs and organizations throughout high school and continued this throughout her life. She was still a member of the University of Idaho Retirees Association and the Road Runners, with whom she enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed playing bunko with good friends and was on a women's bowling team, which she loved and with whom she competed at national events. Cathy was an amazing woman who enjoyed traveling, living life to the fullest and always left everyone with a smile on their face. She was such a blessing to us all.
