Carole Ann Beck passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at her home, surrounded by loving family.
Carole was born April 19, 1940, in Kootenai, Idaho, the second daughter of Elmer Brown and Alice Atkinson. Carole grew up in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School and then later from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Spokane.
Carole was fortunate to be able to experience much of the United States, living in areas including Lewiston, Spokane, Omaha, Neb., Guam, Woodbridge, Va., Orofino, Boise and finally Seattle. For most of Carole's life she worked for the state of Idaho Department of Labor as a hearing officer, earning her the nickname "The Judge." While working for the state of Idaho, she was actively involved in the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security. After retiring, she spent her life devoted to her grandchildren, often visiting one household or another.
Carole was a kind, loving person who will be remembered for her constant smile, positive attitude and caring ways. Carole was always an avid book reader, and in her younger years she was extremely skilled at playing cribbage, as well as a polished pinochle player. Later in life you could always catch her with a crossword in one hand while putting a puzzle together in the other.
Carole is survived by her three sons, Jim Beck of Boise, Jeff Beck of Sammamish, Wash., and Jon Beck of Duvall, Wash. She was a devoted and loving grandmother of Jordan and Austin Beck of Boise, CJ and Jake Beck of Sammamish, Gabi, Madi, Sami and Alexis Beck of Duvall. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie Greene of Springfield, Ore.; nieces Pamela Hedge of Irvine, Ky., and Roben Hedge of Clarkston; and a nephew, Ryan Greene of Springfield, Ore.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Orchards Community Church at 822 Bryden Ave., Lewiston. In addition, please join her family and friends at a 3 p.m. celebration of life party being held at the Orchid Room, 301 Main St., Lewiston.
