Beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend. Bob L. Howard, 92, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, in Lewiston. He was born in May of 1931 in Shelby, Miss., to Earlene and Riley Howard.
Following his graduation from Mississippi State University he entered the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant serving as a platoon leader. After discharge Bob was married to Charlene Savage and then put his Bachelor of Science degree in education to good use touching countless lives teaching subjects from elementary through business college in Wyoming, Montana and Oregon.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother Earlene Combs Howard, father Riley Brownlee Howard and brothers William R. Howard, Lacy E. Howard and Jim L. Howard. He is survived by wife Charlene S. Howard (married for 69 years), son Brooks Howard (Donna), grandson Taylor Howard (Kelsey), granddaughter Megan Renfro (Ken Garson), great-granddaughter Luca, grandson Matt Renfro (Stephanie), great-grandson Landon.
A viewing will be held from 1-1:50 p.m. and a service from 2- 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Loveland Funeral Chapel in Enterprise, Ore. A private family/military graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at the Enterprise Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations in Bob’s name to your local VA nursing home.
