Beth Pomerinke passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. We will miss our loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend very much.
Beth was born Oct. 10, 1936, in Orofino, to Fred and Ada Knutson. She and Gene were married Feb. 12, 1955, and just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
An outdoor enthusiast, Beth loved the cabin she and her husband owned on Black Lake, where boating, fishing, cooking on the deck, working and sitting by the fire with family and friends occupied nearly every weekend for many years. In later years, traveling with friends in their camper trailer and spending a great deal of time on the beautiful North Fork of the Clearwater River was her favorite pastime. Beth was an amazing artist, and we are so fortunate to remember her passion for painting through her artwork displayed throughout our homes.
Beth is survived by her husband, Gene Pomerinke of Clarkston; son Tim Pomerinke of Ferndale, Wash.; and three daughters, Shelli Pitner of Lewiston, Tami Cain of Howell, Mich., and Kari Kuchmak of Lewiston. She had six beloved grandchildren: Jami Gonzalez, Katy Anchor, Lindsy Kuchmak, Joe Pitner, and Siara and Autumn Cain. Beth will also be greatly missed by her faithful dog, Tassie, who never left her side.
Mom's many interests, activities, accomplishments and challenges can't be remembered without including Dad, her partner for nearly 60 years. They supported each other through the good times and bad. Raising a family in the days before technology dominated our lives meant more time with family and friends. Our parents, and grandparents, taught us through example and experience the values and rewards from hard work, time spent together, appreciating the great outdoors and the importance of commitment and responsibility. We are all better people for having her in our lives and are thankful that she is in a better place watching over us, finally free of the hardships she was forced to endure in her final days.
The family invites you to join them in a celebration of Beth's life at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Orchards Community Church, 822 Bryden Ave., Lewiston. Dinner will immediately follow; salads and desserts appreciated.
