Arshula Ann (Morris) Anderson, former longtime Colfax resident, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at her home in Spokane, after battling dementia for several years. She was 78.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Bruning Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at the Kamiah Cemetery in Kamiah.
Arshula was born May 29, 1938, in Deer Park, Wash., to Roy and Melva Adamson Morris. Arshula was given her name by her sister, Billie, who was 6 years old when Arshula was born. The family moved to Palouse and she attended school through the eighth grade, at which time they moved to Kamiah. Arshula graduated from high school in Kamiah and then attended Kinman Business College in Spokane. She married Ken Anderson in 1962.
The Andersons moved to Pullman in 1963, where they both worked for Clark's Grocery Store. They moved to Palouse a short time later and Arshula kept busy as a homemaker and mother. She worked for many years at the Department of Social and Health Services office in Colfax as a financial service specialist. In 1975, the family moved to Colfax, and she lived there until moving to Spokane a short time ago.
Arshula loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She was very proud of each of them. She liked to work puzzles, crochet and did some tole painting. She loved to travel as well. She retired from DSHS after 25 years of service in June of 1997.
Arshula is survived by her four children, Debra Finnell of Clarkston, Tammie (Richard) Rounds of Colfax, Roy (Elizabeth) Anderson and George (Kim) Anderson, both of Spokane; her older sister, Billie Foster of Long Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a great-nephew, Matthew Foster.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The online guest book is at www.bruningfuneralhome.com.
