Arla Dawn Barnard, 84, of Lewiston went home to be with Jesus Nov. 29, 2012. She died of complications due to her battle with breast cancer.

Arla was born April 14, 1928, to Lyman Dean Cox and Eva Lena Snyder in Klickitat, Wash. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School and Lewis-Clark Normal College, in 1968, with a degree in elementary education. Arla taught school in Pierce. Arla was very involved in her church, teaching Sunday school, Good News Club, and vacation Bible school. She enjoyed being a counselor at Alacca Bible Camp in the summers. Arla enjoyed singing and listening to music, especially when her family visited her and played banjo/guitars for her.

Arla spent the last years of her life in a nursing home, both in Life Care Center of Lewiston and Living Spring Residential Care of Lewiston.
