BURLEY, Idaho -- The woman accused of killing her ex-husband's girlfriend and then decapitating the body has accepted a plea bargain to avoid a possible death sentence.

Sandra Jonas, 45, of Bellevue has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in last October's death of Meta Marie Jones, 46.

Jonas' teen-age daughter, Andra Ross, 17, pleaded guilty to helping her mother dispose of Jones' body. Ross was placed on two-years probation last December.

Jones was engaged to Jonas' ex-husband, Milo Ross, when she was shot to death at Ross's home near Hazelton on Oct. 25. Authorities said the body was then moved by vehicle to the Milner-Gooding Canal where it was apparently decapitated and dumped into the canal.

According to court documents, Jonas' daughter said she picked up two empty .22-caliber shell casings at her father's house. The casings apparently came from the weapon used to kill Jones, court records showed. Ross said she tossed the casings out the window of her pickup as she was driving to the canal with Jones' body in the truck's bed, according to the documents.
