A 35-year-old Spokane woman is facing a prostitution charge in Asotin County for allegedly working out of a room at the Motel 6 in Clarkston.
Karen A. McCollister was arrested Tuesday by Clarkston police, who received an anonymous tip about a woman who was entertaining men on a regular basis at the motel on the 200 block of Bridge Street. The Quad Cities Drug Task Force assisted with the case.
Police Chief Joel Hastings said investigators were able to identify McCollister as someone who was advertising sexual acts on the website backpage.com.
At the time of the arrest, evidence of prostitution was found in the Motel 6 room, according to police. The woman is believed to have been working in Clarkston for about two weeks.
Because prostitution is a misdemeanor, McCollister was booked and released from the Asotin County Jail. She will appear in Asotin County District Court for the municipal case. No court date has been set yet.
