GRANGEVILLE — A 35-year-old White Bird man was arrested Saturday after allegedly hitting an Idaho County Sheriff’s deputy during a routine stop.
According to a news release from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy had made a routine traffic stop in White Bird and, while he spoke with the driver, Kasper Harvey crossed the street and was standing in the oncoming lane, ignoring several verbal commands to wait on the sidewalk.
After completing the traffic stop, the deputy spoke to Harvey, who was allegedly under the influence. Harvey allegedly resisted when the deputy advised him he was under arrest and as the deputy attempted to handcuff him, Harvey allegedly hit the deputy in the head with a closed fist.
Harvey was arrested for felony aggravated battery on an officer, misdemeanor intoxication in a roadway and two misdemeanor counts of resisting and obstructing an officer.
In a separate incident, at about 8 p.m. Sunday, Nikolas Chase, 41, of St. Maries was arrested for a felony warrant out of Hawaii for first-degree theft and felony possession of methamphetamine.
Chase, driving a pickup truck, was pulled over by a deputy in Kooskia for pulling a trailer with no license plate.
While the deputy was searching Chase’s vehicle, he allegedly located a methamphetamine pipe and methamphetamine.
