Hot August Nights isn't just the name of one of the weekend events, it's the weather forecast. Temperatures are expected to reach 98 degrees today and the low to mid 90s Saturday and Sunday in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. Overnight lows are forecast to be in the mid 60s.
TODAY AND SATURDAY
The 2009 Hot August Nights continues today and Saturday in Lewiston.
The annual cruise down Main Street goes from 7 to 10 p.m. and the concert tonight at Pioneer Park featuring The Little River Band runs from 6 to 11 p.m. On Saturday breakfast will be served in Brackenbury Square from 6:30 to 10 a.m., show and shine on Main Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., awards ceremony from 3 to 4 p.m. at Brackenbury Square and the Saturday night concert at the park from 5 to 11 p.m. featuring Mark Farner.

The Lewiston Eagles will have a burger burn at 6 tonight.
The menu will also include potato salad and baked beans for $5. Following the feed there will be a "Funny Money Vegas Nite." Then on Sunday, the auxiliary will be serving breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., with a full breakfast menu ranging in cost from $3-6.50. All proceeds benefit Opportunities Unlimited.

COTTONWOOD - The Idaho County Fair will continue through Saturday at the fairgrounds here.
The schedule for today includes livestock judging at 8:30 a.m., horse fitting at 2 p.m., a kids' carnival from 2 to 7 p.m., a potato bar at the city park from 4 to 7 p.m. and the green swing dance from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Agee building.
The fair concludes Saturday with a dutch oven cook-off at the city park at 9 a.m., the parade at 10 a.m., 4-H livestock awards at 11 a.m. and market at 1 p.m., and the grand finale pie bake-off at 2 p.m. in the arena building.

LOWELL - The Idaho Ole Time Fiddlers camp-out and fiddle show begins today at Three Rivers Resort here.
A covered-dish dinner will get things started at 6:30 tonight, followed by a jam session. On Saturday, music workshops and jam sessions start at 9:30, and the fiddle show is at 2 p.m. The event concludes Sunday after breakfast.

PULLMAN - The National Lentil Festival will get cookin' today.
It all starts with the Friday Night Street Fair in downtown Pullman featuring free lentil chili, live entertainment, games and activities, as well as vendors. The street fair is from 5 to 11 p.m.
A lot more events are planned for Saturday, beginning with the Tase T. Lentil 5K fun run/walk at 8 a.m. starting at the Simpson United Methodist Church and finishing at Reaney Park. The lentil pancake breakfast is at 8 a.m. at Cougar Plaza, followed by the grand parade, which will travel down Grand Avenue and then up Main Street and finish just outside Reaney Park.
Also on Saturday there will be a marketplace and food court from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Reaney Park, the three-on-three basketball tournament is at 10 a.m. at the park, and the boards and blades competition is at 2 p.m. at the Pullman Skate Park on Spring Street. The lentil cook-off is from noon to 5 p.m., live performances will be on the main stage from 11:30 to 5 p.m. and the coronation of the 2010 Little Lentil King and Queen is at 1 p.m. on the main stage.
SUNDAY
The dog days of summer are upon us, and the Asotin County Family Aquatic Center is inviting furry residents to take a swim. The event is from noon to 2 p.m. and activities include a swimsuit contest, doggie paddle race and a fetch contest. A dog first-aid demonstration will also take place for the humans. Representatives from Petco will be on site to give nail clippings. Cost for dogs is $4, and humans are free.
