Valley Vision Executive Director Robert H. (Bob) Tippett announced Tuesday he will retire on Oct. 1.

Tippett, 69, is retiring after six years as head of the agency charged with promoting economic development in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and surrounding regions.

According to an agency news release, Valley Vision is responsible for recruiting businesses and companies to the region , including SkyWest, a regional air service, and Bi-Mart, a retailer that added 41 full-time jobs to the region.

"Bob's legacy is one of working effectively with others - individuals, groups and organizations - to leverage assets for the good of all," said Valley Vision President Clyde Conklin, of Clarkston. "In countless ways, both on stage and behind the scenes, he's worked tirelessly to build local prosperity."

Tippet moved to the valley in 2003, following 26 years in Yuma, Ariz., where he served on the city council - including four years as mayor.

The Valley Vision board of directors will conduct a search for Tippett's replacement.
