WHITE BIRD — A man and a woman from White Bird both died Sunday afternoon when the motorcycle they were riding crashed along U.S. Highway 95 about 10 miles south of White Bird.
The people who died in the wreck were Buddy Zahorka, a 52-year-old man, and Josi Lear-Pilant, a 51-year-old woman, both of White Bird. Their names were released Monday morning by Idaho County Coroner Cody Funke.
According to a news release from the Idaho State Police, Zahorka was driving and Lear-Pilant was the passenger, and they were traveling northbound on the highway. Their motorcycle crossed left of center, traveled off the roadway and crashed into a hillside.
The wreck happened near milepost 213 at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the news release distributed Sunday evening.
Both people died at the scene, according to the news release. Neither of them was wearing a helmet.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the incident. The wreck is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
