Two people were injured after a motorhome pulling a trailer went off a 200-foot embankment and crashed into the Lochsa River on U.S. Highway 12 on Thursday evening.
Robert N. Sanchelli, 61, of Helena, Mont., was driving a 2009 Newmar Ventana motorhome towing a 2008 Ford Focus when he lost control while driving east on Highway 12, according to an Idaho State Police news release.
The motorhome went off an embankment about 30 miles west of Powell and landed in the river. The motorhome then caught fire. Sanchelli and his passenger, Janiel R. Sanchelli, 56, also of Helena, were both taken to Syringa Hospital and Clinics in Grangeville and later airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
A hospital spokesman reported Janiel Sanchelli was listed in stable condition Friday. Robert Sanchelli was not at the hospital but reports didn’t say if he was transferred elsewhere.
