OMAK, Wash. - Three men were arrested Thursday in connection with a drive-by shooting earlier this month of a Lapwai man.
Jose L. Sanchez, 20, and Orlando R. Santos, 18, both of Bridgeport, Wash., and Daniel A. Lopez, 24, of Waterville, Wash., were booked into the Okanogan County Jail and are awaiting their first appearance before a judge, the Omak Chronicle reported.
The men are facing a possible first-degree attempted murder charge in the Aug. 7 drive-by shooting of Juan Contreras. The victim was shot in the forehead by one of the assailants, police said.
Contreras, 25, remains on life support at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
Police said the shooting may be gang-related.
The arrests were a coordinated effort of Omak, Colville Tribal and Brewster police, the FBI and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
