A graveside service for S. Dale Kenaston, a former Lewiston builder, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston. Members of the Nez Perce Lodge No. 10, A.F. & A.M. will conduct the service.
Kenaston died of pneumonia Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was 86.
He was born June 18, 1911, in Colome, S.D., to Frederick Milton and Edith Taber Kenaston.
After graduating from high school he worked for the South Dakota highway department as a surveyor.
He married Margaret Floan in 1932.
He took correspondence courses in engineering and a then worked for the Morrison-Knudsen company. He was in charge of various construction projects, including the construction of the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Airport in 1942.
He liked the Lewiston area so much that he quit his job to remain here. He started a construction partnership with Wilson Huntley.
He was a member of the Lewiston Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge, of which he was worshipful master in 1962. He also belonged to the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. He served on the Lewiston Planning Commission for several years.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, music and literature.
His survivors include a son, Monte Kenaston of Lewiston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dec. 14, 1992, and two sisters.
Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston.
