BOISE -- John T. (Jack) Hawley, a prominent attorney and grandson of Gov. James H. Hawley, died at his home Monday after an extended battle with leukemia. He was 79.
A past president of both the Idaho State Bar and the University of Idaho Foundation, Hawley won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in 1962 over George Hansen, but ultimately lost the general election to Democratic Sen. Frank Church, 55 percent to 45 percent.
