UPDATE AT 10:30 P.M.
A vehicle that crashed into a power pole at 10th Street and Steward Avenue in Lewiston cause a fire and power outage to more than 7,500 customers Saturday night.
A vehicle left the roadway and ran into the support structure of several large power poles, according to a Lewiston Fire Department news release. A small brush fire was caused by the downed lines.
Upon arrival by emergency personnel, the occupant was out of the vehicle, and medical officials took care of the occupant.
The crash affected a large portion of the Lewiston Orchards and Downtown area. Fire crews responded to several fire alarms in the area, as well as two elevator entrapments that were caused by the power outage.
Avista continued to work to restore power around 11 p.m.

A power outage that occured around 8:20 p.m. Saturday affected 7,538 customers, according to Avista Utilities.
The cause of outage is under investigation, and power is estimated to be restored by 11:15 p.m. Representatives at Avista could not be reached for comment.
