BUTTE, Mont. - A man was shot to death in Butte late Monday night and police are searching for two people of interest.

Capt. Jerome McCarthy said a 46-year-old man was shot in the head at about 11:20 p.m. Monday. He was pronounced dead at St. James Healthcare. His body was taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy.

The man's name is being withheld while family members are notified.

McCarthy told The Montana Standard that officers want to talk to Jeffery Bruce Lackman, 24, and Vernon Earl Maddock, 36, about the shooting.

Police said the two may be traveling in a two-door red 1994 Acura Legend with Montana license plates 1-14654A.
