A power outage Saturday afternoon in Lewiston affected about 2,500 customers, according to Avista.

The outage first struck at about 3:20 p.m. Saturday and was mostly resolved by about 5 p.m. The outage affected homes and businesses south of 11th Avenue, according to Avista’s outage map on its website.

The outage was caused by an animal getting into Avista’s equipment at a substation, according to a spokesperson for the company.
