An Orofino man who survived a motorcycle crash in which another person died Sunday in Lewiston is listed in stable condition at a Spokane hospital.

James Weese, 25, is still a patient at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Weese was operating a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle at about 1:20 p.m. Sunday when it lost control and hit a parked car near the intersection of 14th Street and 14th Avenue, according to a news release from the Lewiston Police Department.

Both Weese and a passenger, Alyssa Slusher, 24, of Lewiston, were thrown from the motorcycle, then taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Slusher died at the Lewiston hospital. Weese was taken to Sacred Heart via air ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation. Those with information about the incident are asked to contact Sgt. Craig Roberts or Officer Chris Smith at (208) 746-0171.

An online fundraising campaign has been established to pay for Slusher’s funeral expenses and help support her young son. It can be found at bit.ly/3PkOAFP. The campaign had raised $7,260 of an $8,000 goal as of Tuesday afternoon.
