LAPWAI — FBI and Nez Perce Tribal officials have not released any new information about the homicide death of a 22-year-old Lapwai man whose body was found on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation on May 12.

Sandra Barker, media spokesperson for the FBI in Salt Lake City, confirmed Monday no arrests have been made in the shooting death of Eli A. “Suge” Albert-Spencer.

“The investigation remains ongoing, so I’m not able to release anything further at this time,” Barker said in an email to the Lewiston Tribune.

Albert-Spencer’s body was discovered in the area of Thunder Valley Drive near Lapwai after a complaint of shots being fired at 4:43 a.m. on May 12. Lapwai Chief of Police Leotis McCormack later confirmed Albert-Spencer’s identity.

The incident happened in a street near a residence, according to previous reports. McCormack has said it is believed this was an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the general public.

The investigation is being handled by both agencies because the death happened on tribal property.
