Military plane crash in Lincoln County

DAVENPORT, Wash. - Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is confirming that one of its aircraft has crashed in eastern Washington.

The base said it received a report of an aircraft down at about 8:45 Monday morning.

The base is not saying what type of plane crashed. The fate of the pilot and any other crew members was not immediately available.

Whidbey Island said the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Lincoln County officials are reporting that the crash occurred in rural Lincoln County near the town of Harrington.

Woman, teen accused of spraying chemical in store

ST. HELENS, Ore. - Police in the small Oregon community of St. Helens said a young Washington woman and a juvenile discharged chemical spray in a grocery store last week, prompting the evacuation of about 100 people.

Authorities said 31 shoppers reported having trouble breathing last Wednesday and one man was taken to a hospital after the incident at a Safeway store.

St. Helens Police Chief Steven Salle said 18-year-old Elisha Nichols of Rainier, Wash., and the juvenile were arrested Monday. Nichols was arrested for investigation of counts including assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and unlawful use of Mace. She was booked into the Columbia County Jail with bail set at $400,000.

The juvenile's case was referred to juvenile prosecutors.
