The film made its debut at Lewiston in May, and the tribe and its partners have staged several screenings since then around the Northwest, according to a news release from the tribe.

“Our goal of ‘Covenant of the Salmon People’ is to educate the public on the depth of our connection to salmon. We couldn’t think of a better way to do that than film,” Nez Perce Tribe Chairperson Shannon Wheeler said. “The film speaks for itself and tells our story of the agreement we made to protect and speak on behalf of salmon, for they gave of themselves to ensure our survival. Our creation story outlines this covenant and connection; today we continue to uphold that because it is our obligation.”

KBTC can be seen in western Washington, parts of northern Oregon and southern British Columbia.
