CRAIGMONT — A Lewis County man was listed in stable condition Tuesday at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane following an accidental firearm discharge that left him a facial injury.
According to a news release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Cory Miner, 18, of Craigmont accidentally shot himself in the cheek. The Lewis County emergency communications center received the 911 call at 4:22 p.m. Monday.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the sheriff’s office said, Miner was being treated by the Craigmont Quick Response Unit. A .38 Special revolver involved in the incident was recovered.
Witnesses said that Miner was playing with the revolver when it discharged. Miner was transported by an air ambulance helicopter to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and stabilized before being transported to the Spokane hospital for further observation.
The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate, the news release said.
