Lewiston police cited a Lewiston man Saturday after he allegedly shot a cat in city limits.
Mark C. Hubbard, 63, was cited with misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and discharging a firearm in city limits.
Police responded to a call about gunshots being heard on the 1600 block of 10th Avenue. Police contacted Hubbard, and he reported he fired a shotgun at a feral cat. An animal control officer took the cat to a veterinarian.
Reports were incomplete Monday and did not say what the cat’s injuries were, or if it survived. Sgt. George Hill said he did not have further details and reports also didn’t say if anyone claimed the cat.
Discharging a firearm in city limits is a violation of city code. Animal cruelty is punishable by up to six months in jail. Cruelty to animals is a misdemeanor offense unless it is the third conviction within 15 years of the first offense.
