ALMOTA — The large wildfire west of Pullman has been state mobilized.

Whitman County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Facebook post that the Long Hollow Fire has burned an estimated 2,500-3,000 acres.

The local law enforcement agency is asking the public to be cautious and stay away from the area to allow fire crews and first responders to tend to the blaze. There are no evacuations set in the area, but residents are being advised to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.

The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office said in a news release the blaze is in Whitman County Fire District 13. Several Whitman County fire districts began fighting the fire last night.

The state agency said in the news release the district requested state mobilization Wednesday night, which brought in two strike teams, a hand crew and a bulldozer to fight the flames.

The fire is burning fields and is threatening homes, crops and rangeland, according to the news release.
