Stites man sentenced for role in burglary
GRANGEVILLE - A Stites man convicted by a jury of burglary will spend the next six months at North Idaho Correctional Institution at Cottonwood.
Anthony D. Cobbs, 21, was sentenced last week by 2nd District Judge John H. Bradbury to a one-year fixed term, followed by an indeterminate term of two years in connection with a break-in last year at the Stites Grocery Store in which another man was fatally shot.
Bradbury, however, retained jurisdiction for 180 days, meaning at the end of that period Cobbs' sentence will be re-evaluated and he could be released on parole.
Cobbs was found guilty in January of being the lookout for Gabriel D. Pena Warden, 21, during a break-in of the Stites Grocery Store April 24, 2009.
Warden was confronted and shot by Roberto Nunez, who was spending the night in a room above the store. Cobbs, who testified he warned Warden about Nunez's gun, fled the scene.
