sought in Lewiston

Volunteer ombudsmen are needed in Lewiston for the city's 16 long-term care facilities.

Volunteer ombudsmen serve many roles in the facilities: as an advocate, visitor, educator, mediator and broker to help residents get needs met and connect with agencies that can help. A minimum of two hours per week is required and volunteers are asked to commit to at least one year of service.

Applications for enrollment in the program are due Sept. 1. Applicants who are accepted into the program will complete eight training sessions lasting three hours each and will receive state certification. Interviews will be conducted Sept. 14 through 16 and training will be Sept. 21 through 24 in Lewiston.

Anyone interested in participating can call Barbara Glodowski at (208) 791-7262 or e-mail her at b.glodowski@cap4action.org.

The total system waster outage will begin at about 10 a.m. and last approximately eight hours. The outage is necessary for a contractor to tie in the new water lines on Hartford Avenue.

After water service has been restored, residents may notice cloudiness in the water, which will clear up once the water has been run for a few minutes.
