Annual work on Easter cross set for Saturday

The Easter cross on the Lewiston Hill will be turned on Saturday.

A Clarkston Lions Club work party will replace all 247 40-watt bulbs in the Easter cross. The cross is approximately 250 feet in height and 120 feet across and has a 9,880-watt display. The cross will shine 24 hours a day until after Easter.

Donations to help with the care and expenses of the Easter cross may be sent to a fund set up under the name of a former club member, Quent McMurray, or to the general fund at the Clarkston Lions Club, 6151/2 Sycamore St., Clarkston, WA 99403.

Pullman council plans retreat; public welcome

PULLMAN - The Pullman City Council will hold its annual goal-setting retreat from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fireside Grille.

Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson and city councilors will be in attendance. Another retreat that will include department heads will be held later this year, according to the city.

The retreat is open to the public. The restaurant is at 1095 S.E. Bishop Blvd. in Pullman.
