A clothing store manager got more than she bargained for confronting an alleged shoplifter in Lewiston.

Police later arrested the woman, identified as 33-year-old Tana S. Holt of Lewiston, on accusations she rammed the manager with her car and tried to grab a Taser from the holster of an arresting officer.

The off-duty manager was shopping at Ross Dress For Less on the 2600 block of Nez Perce Drive Saturday evening when she observed a woman allegedly placing multiple items in her purse, according to documents filed in Lewiston's 2nd District Court.

"She confronted Holt, and Holt shoved her on several occasions," according to police reports entered into court records. The manager, identified as Tami L. Smith, followed Holt into the parking lot to get a license plate number, at which point she alleges Holt backed into her with her car.

Smith told police Holt pulled forward at one point and again backed into her, pinning Smith against another car. No serious injuries were reported.

Police pulled Holt over in front of her residence on the 400 block of Miller Street within a few minutes of the incident. In an ensuing altercation with officers, police reports allege Holt tried to remove both an officer's Taser and his service weapon from their holsters.

Officers ended up deploying the Taser on Holt. She was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail where Holt is being held on $5,000 bond.

In an interview with police, according to court records, Holt allegedly told officers she removed clothing items from the store but denied an altercation with Smith.

Holt faces felony charges of burglary and aggravated battery and misdemeanor counts of battery and resisting/obstructing officers. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 14.
