Local cowgirl Coti Fuller won Pendleton Round-Up’s breakaway roping.

Fuller tied for first place with Kelsey Domer, Dublin, Texas, at the Oregon rodeo last week. Both placed after capturing their calf in 3.7 seconds.

Fuller, 36, is from Touchet, Wash., but she was born and raised in Lewiston. She’s been riding horses since she was a little girl, she said.

“I was a little kid when they first put me on a horse,” Fuller said. “And there I went.”

Barrel racing and breakaway roping are her favorite ways to enjoy free time between life and working as a chiropractor in Walla Walla, Wash.

“I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I didn’t rope, barrel or do something in that way,” Fuller said.

She’s been roping with her horse, Slick, at the Pendleton Roundup since 2021. She attends rodeos around the Pacific Northwest, and said she’s competed at the Lewiston Roundup for the past three years.

The Pendleton rodeo was the last in her circuit. She said the season had a lot of ups and downs, but it was nice to finish strong.

“I really mostly ran barrels this summer and won a little here and there,” Fuller said. “Pendleton made it a lot better.”
