After saving millions of dollars on earlier stimulus projects, the Idaho Transportation Board agreed this week to seek bids on several additional construction jobs.

The projects, which include three in this area, will go out to bid this fall, with work scheduled to begin next spring.

The board awarded contracts for eight highway stimulus projects earlier this year, including work on U.S. Highway 95 near Whitebird Grade and at Moscow Mountain. The bids came in substantially below estimates, however, yielding more than $50 million in savings. Last month, the board decided to use $15.8 million of that money to expand a section of U.S. Highway 95 north of Hayden. Now it's dedicating the remainder of the funds to eight more projects.

Details were not immediately available on the projects, but the list includes $6 million for U.S. Highway 95 improvements in the Grangeville area, $2.23 million for U.S. Highway 95 pavement overlays in Latah County and $1 million for bridge rehabilitation work on the Lawyers Canyon, Orofino and Ashaka bridges on U.S. Highway 95 and Idaho 7.

Other projects include $10 million for concrete rehabilitation on Interstate 84, $6.5 million for bridge work along Interstate 90 and $12.8 million for pavement and overlay work on Interstate 15.
