Latah County schools scored high marks in the science, math and English sections of the 2024 Idaho Standards Achievement.
According to data compiled by Idaho Education News, school districts in Moscow, Genesee and Troy were among the best in the state for average test scores. They were ranked based on the percentage of students whose scores were proficient or higher.
Among traditional schools, Troy School District students recorded Idaho’s highest average score in math with an average of 71.5%. Genesee School District had the fourth-highest score of 61.6% and Moscow School District was right behind with an average score of 59.1%.
Genesee ranked first in Idaho for the science section with an average score of 63.8%. Moscow came in second with a score of 62%.
Moscow, Genesee and Troy school districts were among the top 10 most proficient districts in the English portion of the ISAT.
Troy students recorded the third-highest average scores with 71.1%, Genesee was right behind with an average of 71.1% and Moscow was seventh-highest with 69.2%.
All of these scores are well above the state averages, which range from 41% to 53%.
Cottonwood School District also performed among the best traditional school districts in the state. It ranked second in both the English and math categories with scores of 71.4% and 70.2% respectively. It placed sixth in the science category with a score of 55.8%.
Among charter schools, Palouse Prairie Charter recorded the second highest average scores for science.
Moscow High School is among the top 10 schools for the English section. Its students rank ninth with a score of 78.9%.
McDonald Elementary ranked eighth among all traditional elementary schools in the science section with a score of 76.7%.
